GigaTECH to Attend Annual FHIR DevDays in Minneapolis!

May 14, 2024 | Company News, FHIR

With a balmy summer quickly approaching comes yet another exciting edition of  FHIR DevDays 2024, hosted by Health Level 7 (HL7) International. Known as the biggest annual event solely dedicated to FHIR, developers and interested parties, alike, are expected to flock to the McNamara Alumni Center in Minneapolis, MN to connect and discuss the wide-range usability of the FHIR standard. With over 140+ talks, build sessions, and keynotes to choose from, all spanning across four days, there is an endless amount of content and opportunities to connect with experts and other eager attendees to boost your own FHIR expertise. As DevDays occurs biennially in the United States (alternating with Europe), this is certainly an event that any and all FHIR enthusiasts will not want to miss out on!

Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources, commonly abbreviated as FHIR, defines a dynamic, electronic standard to exchange healthcare data through meticulously defined categorical data formats known as “Resources.” The significance of FHIR comes from its convenience in covering most use cases (i.e., patients, laboratory results, etc.) to be defined in Resources, allowing for ease of communication between developers and non-developers on relevant healthcare information. Though this covers only the surface of FHIR’s complexity, DevDays provides a valuable opportunity to delve into its widespread use, which we at GigaTECH are more than excited to explore!

Attending FHIR DevDays 2024 will be our GigaTECH Research & Development (R&D) team. As a company that specializes in integrating solutions utilizing FHIR, we see great value in sending our team to hone in on as many of the specific use-cases covered in this event. Our team plans to separately and jointly attend various workshops, allowing us to explore our own interests while also covering as much ground as possible. The goal is to diversify and expand our FHIR knowledge as a collective, which will not only improve the quality of our software, but ultimately GigaTECH as a whole. Stay tuned for the post-conference breakdown of our experience and findings!
